Times Tables
Times tables
Times tables are taught explicitly from year 2 onwards. By the end of year 4 children are expected to be fluent in timetables up to 12x in order to complete the statutory multiplication check. To aid children’s learning we use regular low stakes testing in class. We also make use of Times Tables Rockstars and Mathletics as Homework tasks to engage pupil to learn their times tables in different ways.
National curriculum guidelines states that pupils should …
Year 1: Count in multiples of twos, fives and tens. Use concrete objects to solve multiplication and division problems
Year 2: Recall and use multiplication and division facts for the 2, 5 and 10 multiplication tables
Year 3: Recall and use multiplication and division facts for the 3, 4 and 8 multiplication tables
Year 4: Recall multiplication and division facts for multiplication tables up to 12 × 12
