What is PSHE Education?
PSHE Education is a planned programme of learning through which children and young people acquire the knowledge, understanding and skills they need to manage their lives – now and in the future. As part of a whole-school approach, PSHE Education develops the qualities and attributes pupils need to thrive as individuals, family members and members of society.
At Hanborough Manor we regard PSHCE as an essential component of the whole curriculum. We believe that the promotion of health and social well-being is central to the life of the whole school and its relationships with the surrounding community. The school uses the 'Jigsaw' scheme of work to teach all aspects of PSHCE, including Relationships and Sex Education, Drugs Education and Citizenship. A variety of teaching strategies are used including mindfulness techniques, investigation, debate or discussion and circle time. The Jigsaw themes also form part of the collective worship themes for each term, giving children a chance to explore their learning further.
