This term the children have chosen the topic ‘Explorers’. They were also very keen to learn the story ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ which fits in very well!

We will be learning to tell the story using a story map as well as making up our own versions. We will be learning the songs to go with the story play by Nikki Davies and exploring different ways of moving in dance to tell the story.

We will be planting beans and observing them as they grow.

The children will be learning what plants need to survive and how to care for their own plants.

Other texts being used will include:

‘Jim and the Beanstalk’ by Raymond Briggs, ‘Journey’ and ‘Return’ by Aaron Becker and ‘Sailor Bear’ by Martin Waddell.

The children will also be explorers at Forest School every Friday morning.

Our Jigsaw theme this term is ‘Relationships’ and our collective worship theme is ‘God’s Love’.

Please remember to send your child with a water bottle, outdoor shoes, a sunhat and sun cream every day. They will also need wellies if the weather is wet or for playing in the sand or mud kitchen.

If you have any worries, concerns or just need reassuring please come and see me.
